good times...

When you live in the city of numbness, waking every now and then as you go about your buisness, you can find yourself in the most peculiar spaces, at the most unlikely times, in the strangest of companies.
Company? There's a good one for this city.
Outside people you actually know, rare is the case in which one of your "companions" in the come and go of the agitated lifestyle of a big city even bothers to look at you, let alone speak. It's not an investment you want to make with the valuable time you can spend looking into empty space while sitting in the subway or any of the other means of transportation you use and, let's face it, sometimes it's downright risky. Minimum etiquette is observed, if any. we become gray people, little less than background sounds, and so it goes day after day. I wonder whether we vanish a bit everyday just by living here.
The "rich mosaic" of mexican society is one where each of the components is isolated from the rest, unable to relate to any of the others. some mosaic we are.
to those bothered by this there are havens, places that find you and call you on, places you take with you wherever you are and yet miss terribly upon finding yourself again looking at the gray skies, gray buildings...gray people.

still the city has surprises, strange encounters, days to be remembered. People who look at a passing you and actually see you, people who do more than that, people who too crave for that unlikely interaction. Flowers found upon a walk under the rain. Happy and strange saturdays that start with "good morning"s from that happy haven and the goofiest ping pong matches and end up in the typical mexican way: Grandpa's house, junk food, cousins and football.
Mexico's team really kicked ass!!!:)
